Greetings everyone, and welcome! I have one goal here: Make America Great Again! Our federal government has veered *way* off course, and I am going to do everything I can to bring us back. The Founding Fathers provided us with pretty clear instructions regarding how to run the country, but unfortunately the stewards of that responsibility have basically discarded them. So, consequently, I will try to do my small part to facilitate replacement of said stewards. There are far too many elected officials who seem to forget that they are representatives, doing very little actual representing. When you look at it from a logical standpoint, it's not all that hard. Back in the day, people in Congress worked part time, and they managed to do a bang-up job of running the country. Now, members of Congress view themselves as lords and ladies over the peasantry, and that just won't do. We need to put a stop to it. Now.
Freedom Girl Joins the Captain Constitution Team!
In the spirit of gender equality, we'd like to welcome the newest member to our team - Freedom Girl! Day after day she witnessed utter ignorance to the abuses of our Federal government, and seemingly limitless devotion to our Poser in Chief. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, and she transformed into a patriotic superhero, joining Captain Constitution and Doctor Liberty in The League of Super Patriots!. Now, it is her mission to eradicate cluelessness from our electorate. It's an uphill battle, but she's up for the challenge. Welcome!

You've all heard of Vegas Rules right? "Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!" While I'm not sure that our founding fathers were big gamblers, I do know they set up their own sort of Vegas Rules for the Constitution. It's called the 10th Amendment and it goes like this, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

I assume most of you watched at least some of the debate yesterday. If not, let me summarize it: Obama got thumped. Romney cleaned Obama’s clock. Obama had his rear end handed to him. Romney put the smack down, hard. Obama was outclassed in every category by a wide margin. It was a total train wreck… and I loved every minute of it.

There sure are alot of polls. It seems like everybody and their brother has a Presidential poll showing this, that, or the other trend. There are official polling organizations such as Gallup and Rasmussen, and there are polls run by media outlets such as the Washington Post and Fox News. Most of them don't just select random names out of the phone book and start calling: they have specific procedures for defining their specific sampling criteria.

Recently Detroit Metro Area voters were asked to vote on a proposal to fund the Detroit Institute of Arts though a 10 year increase in property taxes which amounted to about $15 per year for the average household. If passed in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties the proposal would raise about 250 Million dollars over the next decade and put the DIA well on it's way to a sustainable future. Although the bill received little press until weeks before the vote, debates did ensue in the local newspapers and online about the value of such a tax.

Welcome back to another installment of the Captain Constitution blog, Commuters Edition. Okay, so apparently because I don't want to pay for everyone else's birth control, I am now a radical conservative extremist. Democrat Socialists have now brought this narrative to the forefront. I'm not even sure which is worse; the fact that people are pressing this idea, or that other people actually believe it. I'd appreciate hearing from any liberals in the audience willing to explain this to me. Why in the hell am I responsible for Sandra Fluke's birth control?
