I sometimes troll Facebook to see what my liberal friends are talking about. Periodically I come across something so ridiculous that I am compelled to respond. I have to admit that sometimes these people are so uninformed that I feel a little bad debating them... well, OK, not really ;-).
Here is a series of posts a liberal acquaintance made. My response follows each remark:
Obamaton
An extra $2400 a year in tax for the hard working college educated middle class. If you got that extra to hand over to mitt ill take it and pay 6 months rent for a homeless family that Mitt says doesn't matter."
Me
This would be great, but if you were looking at the *actual* numbers rather than what Obama is lying to you about (yet again), you would know that families are *losing* $2500. And that's just what's happening now. Per the government's own projections, when Obamacare is fully implemented, that loss is projected to double. So, if you want to lose $5000... well, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Obamaton
I'm not into polygamy, or slavery. Sorry I'm not a Mormon!
Me
Mormons aren't into these things either, and in fact they denounce them strongly. This is terribly insulting and insensitive to an entire segment of our population, and shows a total disregard for the truth on your part. So which is worse, not voting for someone because of their religion, or because of the color of their skin?
Obamaton
Nothing more annoying than a loud obnoxious man that doesn't have his facts right! Mitt didn't answer any of the important questions!
Me
You are absolutely correct about a loud obnoxious man with his facts wrong being annoying. Add arrogant and narcissitic and you've described Obama. I'm not sure which debate you were watching, but I think Mitt did a tremendous job of not only answering the questions, but citing examples and providing context. Obama just interrupted, lied about his record (we know because we are living it), and called Romney a liar.
Obamaton
I love my president !! He has had 31 months increasing jobs, caught Osama bin laden and created Heath care for many more, in my book he's a keeper!
Me
Wow! He sounds like a superhero! It's so amazing to me how many people believe what this joker says without actually verifying anything... or, for that matter, just looking at the world around them.
- If he has been increasing jobs for over 31 months, then why is unemployment still above 8% (note to the fact checkers: if you include California, which the administration conveniently forgot to do recently, the number is actually above 8% -*not* 7.8%). He may have gained 5.2 million jobs, but when you lose 5.2 million jobs first, that equals zero net jobs. Even my 6 year old understands this math. Plus, about 500,000 of those are "green" jobs, paid for with taxpayer money (most of it borrowed).
- Leon Panetta ordered the raid that killed binLaden. Obama had vetoed 3 other opportunities to kill him, so Panetta decided to initiate the raid and inform Obama as the attack was underway. Obama had to agree to it at that point.
- ObamaCare... it is mathematically impossible to grant better care to more people for less money. If the number of people goes up, either the cost goes up, or the quality of care goes down (or both, in this case). This is economics 101 people. Besides: The CBO has already published the numbers, and guess what? The cost of ObamaCare is currently twice the original estimate. Wow - I am so surprised, really.

Obama has done all can do to dig us out of the mess left by Bush and has tried fulfilling g all his promises with many republican road blocks. I think he has do e an amazing job.
Me
Umm, if you consider this an amazing job, then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. Unemployment has been above 8% for his entire term (see above), he has increased the debt by roughly $1.3 *trillion* per year, healthcare costs are going up because of ObamaCare, and the economy is on life support. How long are you people going to keep making excuses for this embarrassment to our nation?
Obamaton
Bush put us into a depression, it takes. Strong man to get us out of that mess and move the country to a greener way of living. Mitts plan ...., oh yeah it's a secret out side of cutting tax for sending jobs to china. And the millionaires.
Me
It does take a strong man to get us out of a recession (not depression). Reagan was a man like that, and he did. Obama... not so much. See all of my previous points about unemployment, national debt, healcare costs, and the crappy economy. Regarding Mitt's plan: It still never ceases to amaze me how some people just swallow the leftist propaganda hook line and sinker. I'm sure a community organizer and 1-term Congressional Representative is much more qualified to create jobs and save the economy compared to an exceptionally successful businessman with 25 years of experience. No matter how much you want that square peg to fit in a round hole, it won't.
Obamaton
Obama is doing the job...and we are much better off than we were four years ago.
Me
If you are better off, then you are pretty much the only one. I can only imagine what it must be like to live in your fantasy world.
